Hi Cody,
Great questions.
SNA Stonyford Ride; is a fast pace of challenging big hill climbs & single-track woods riding.
Skill level varies from strong intermediate to advanced riders.
Riders will be split into groups with the stronger riders riding a faster pace.
Yes, you’re welcome to bring a friend.
Please ask your friend to register and become an SNA member, it’s easy & it’s free.
I have never rode at Stonyford, count me in. This sounds fun. This would be my first SNA event so I know no one. I have room for one rider/bike and will be leaving from downtown. -David Rosevold
Great ride at Stonyford!!!
What a great way to start off the new year, we had a little bit of everything from a great group of riders to good weather, great traction to mud, snow/ice at high elevation. We also had to get creative and transfer fuel from one bike to another with a bent up old beer can to make it back. It just goes to show the unpredictable can occur at any time when it’s all about adventure.
Mark – it’s all about adventure
What a great ride and thanks to mark for putting this on. It’s been 3 yrs that I’ve attended this ride and every year I’ve gotten a great experience and I can remember each year. Shame on you guys that didnt go or couldnt get a hall pass. jk. This year practically every type of condition was thrown at us… we even had some areas at the top that were like a sleding hill for the bike… brakes locked, hold on and hopefully you make it to the dry spot down the trail… LOL. This got humorous at times watching guys go down, get up and laugh with the rest of us… I wont say I wasnt one of them. I also learned that bikes with high compression pistons, crank, hotcams, etc, dont get near the miles per gallon… I took out my two uncle in laws whom are 14 and 17 on their first full day trail ride (dont ask how they are more than 1/2 my age. LOL) They come from a motocross family whom put on the Swift Dodge Ameture Nationals so they had no idea what running out of gas was all about right before dark at the top of the mountain. Like mark said, a half a beer can being used to transfer gas really gave them a different perception and appreciation for gas. We ended up making it down the mountain within 5 minutes of pitch black darkness… The 7 of us made it down in the nic of time while the rest of the group got back earlier by taking a shorter route. When you can recall each of these new years rides that mark puts on for the last few years like i can, it tells you one thing… I’ll be there next year!
Should be a great ride. Rod
