High Sierra Dual Sport Adventure Ride explores historic routes discovered by some of America's most famous Mountain Men and adventurous explores of the 1800s. During the early 1800s and before the California Gold Rush it was the era of the legendary American Mountain Men that risk their lives to explore the Wild West. The earliest explorers through this region included Jedediah Smith, Joseph Walker, John C. Fremont and Kit Carson. After the days of the early explorers and towards the end of the Gold Rush the Mokelumne Wilderness was the home of the legendary Monte Wolf, íthe last Mountain Man of the Sierra Nevada.
High Sierra Dual Sport Adventure Ride is a two day, one night/camping, dual sport adventure ride through some of the best High Sierra scenery imaginable including spectacular views of the wild and scenic Mokelumne Wilderness. First Day, your adventure begins in the gold rush town of Placerville and quickly leaves civilization behind as you venture through remote dirt roads a forest service roads to the historic Carson Pass. Venturing on you will explore the historic Carson Pass wagon route with a lunch stop at the historic Kirkwood Lodge. After lunch your adventure continues on and explores crystal blue lakes and panoramic views of the High Sierra. After exploring the historic Carson Pass you will have dinner and drinks at the historic Markleeville Hotel then complete your day of adventure by camping along the scenic Carson River.
Second Day, your adventure explores the Ebbetts Pass scenic byway which is one of the most scenic and curvy mountain passes in the Sierra Nevada. After traveling over Ebbetts Pass you will have the opportunity for lunch at a high alpine lodge near Bear Valley. After lunch your adventure will explore a remote wagon route along the south rim of the wild and scenic Mokelumne Canyon. This remote route explores breathtaking views nearly 4,000 feet above the Grand Canyon of the Mokelumne River and beyond.
Last Mountain Man of the Sierra Nevada, Legendary Mountain Man Monte Wolfe, trapper, guide, and outlaw lived a lifestyle most only dream of, his legacy of tall tales and amazing adventures have been passed on through the generations. Stories of his feats of uncommon strength and endurance coupled with his ability to thrive alone in the deep winter elements of the Sierra Nevada have been told around campfires for many years. Monte Wolf's historic cabin still remains in a remote location in the Mokelumne Wilderness as a testament of a rugged mountain man who lived his dream in an alpine wonderland in the High Sierra.
